Psychodynamic therapy
Psychodynamic therapy is a form of talk therapy that involves facilitating a deeper understanding/insight of one’s emotions, behaviors and thinking patterns. By talking with a psychodynamic therapist, clients achieve a better understanding of themselves and their life experiences and can improve their relationships with other people and work toward achieving the goals and feel happier/more satisfied with their own lives. Even though psychodynamic therapy is rooted in psychoanalytic theory, there are some big differences between the two approaches. In fact, psychodynamic therapy tends to be a shorter process than traditional psychoanalysis, and it places a bigger emphasis on the patient’s relationships with other people in their own life (family, friends, partners etc) than on the client-therapist dyad.
