Client Centered/Humanistic
Client-centered therapy (AKA person-centered therapy or Rogerian therapy), is a non-directive form of talk therapy developed by humanist psychologist Carl Rogers, one of the most influential psychologists of the 20th-century. In this unique therapeutic approach, the therapist acts as an equal partner in the therapeutic process, and sees their clients as their “best experts” on their own life/journey. Therapists embracing this approach firmly believe that their clients have a self-actualizing tendency, or a desire to fulfill their potential and the therapist’s role is just to guide them/help them explore their wants, beliefs and options.
